Album #1 The Terry Crawford Band (1980)
This
album was recorded in Montreal at Listen Audio Studios beginning in the
summer of 1979. We recorded 6 tracks and then our manager, Allan Katz,
set out to sell it to a label. RCA came on board and signed us in the
spring of 1980. The album was completed and released in the fall of 1980.
The first single, Dreamer was Pick of the Week in Billboard
Magazine in February 1981. The album did not have great sales but attracted
enough attention to get Terry nominated for a JUNO Award in 1981. Personal
favorite song on the record is Wanting You. On a sad note,
drummer John Hannah (crouching in the cover photo), who played on our
first three recordings and was a member of the band from 1978-84, died
in a car accident in 1989.
Album #2 Good Girl Gone Bad (1982)
New
production team on this one with Allan Katz, Rich Blakin and Carl Marsh
taking charge. We worked with some great extras on Good Girl, (Jazz great,
Michel Donato on bass on Chocolate Candy was most noteworthy)
and had two successful singles, Running and Get Away.
Running, also was released by Chubby Checker at the same time as our version
was released. So much for exclusive material! Gunfighter and
Chocolate Candy received great FM airplay across Canada and
in parts of Europe, and opened many doors for us. The cover was shot by
Quebec fashion photographer, Michel Pilon. Terry also received her second
JUNO nomination for this recording in 1982.
Album #3 Virgin Heart (1983)
Same
production team as Good Girl and it was also recorded in Montreal in 1983.
The album produced singles, Im Sorry and One Time
for Old Times. One Time got huge airplay across Canada
and the band toured extensively in 1983 with the Beach Boys. 6 months
after our version of One Time for Old Times was released,
American band, 38 Special recorded their own version of the song and took
it to top 20 in the States. This was our last recording for RCA and the
band underwent major line up changes over the next couple of years.
Album #4 Total Loss of Control (1986)
No
label, new management and a mew production team. Tim Thorney and Joel
Feeney produced this recording with Bryan Allan (from the band Toronto)
also contributing. It was recorded primarily at Metal Works Studio in
Toronto. A host of Toronto Session players contributed their talents to
this one. (Lou Pomanti, Jorn Anderson, Bernie LaBarge, Earl Seymour, John
Johnson and Lenny Solomon) Tracks Standing in the Shadow of Love
and Christmas, Baby Please Come Home were recorded
live off the floor and are standout tracks. Singles Ill Be
Back and First Step did well. First Step
also had a video made for it, which received coverage on Much Music and
a number of video outlets. The album was released on Attic Records in
Canada and the experience led us to retire from the recording
business until recently. We chalked this one up to experience. The musical
side of things was a pleasure, but the politics was hell.
Y to I
Ok so you noticed that Terri now spells her name with an i
instead of a y. Got tired of people saying Is Terry
a male or female? when we would send out print promo. The switch
to i makes it easier. She is a female and has the right to
change her mind!
